A woman in New York is currently fighting for her life following a tragic motor vehicle crash. The early-Monday car accident reportedly occurred when a driver blew through a red traffic light and struck the woman’s car, causing severe injuries. Police said the driver who caused the accident was speeding at the time of the collision.
The recent accident occurred in Brooklyn at about 12:30 a.m. According to authorities, a man was driving a Dodge Charger that failed to stop at a red light. At that time, he reportedly struck a Honda Accord, propelling it onto a sidewalk.
A female passenger in the Accord was ejected due to the impact of the crash. The 32-year-old was rushed to a medical center in critical condition. The driver who allegedly struck her also suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Police continued to investigate the crash and said that charges against the 22-year-old man were pending their investigation’s outcome.
If the man is believed to have caused the automobile accident due to negligent or reckless driving, which seems apparent, the seriously injured passenger may choose to file a personal injury claim against him, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. If he is convicted of any formal charges in criminal court, proof of the conviction may be offered in a related civil court claim to establish negligence per se. A successfully fought suit may lead to monetary damages to cover hospital bills and other accident-related losses.
