A traffic stop led to the arrests of three individuals recently. The men were driving in southeast New York when they were stopped by state police. Upon investigation, the individuals were suspected to be in violation of the law and charged with weapon and drug possession. They are currently being held in the Putnam County jail and are awaiting trial.

Numerous alleged motor vehicle and traffic violations led to the traffic stop. During the stop, authorities allege that they detected a strong odor of marijuana, which led to a search of the vehicle. During the search, a gun, marijuana concentrate cartridges, marijuana plants, opiate pills and a large sum of U.S. currency was retrieved.

The men were charged with several felonies related to the gun and substances apparently discovered during the stop. At least one of the individuals had a prior weapons conviction. The driver of the vehicle was also charged with driving while impaired by drugs. After the arrests, two of the men were held without bond in the local jail. The other man was held, pending a bond.

The felony weapon and drug possession charges may have a serious impact on the lives of the three individuals arrested during this New York traffic stop. Each man will have the opportunity to present his defense during the court trial. The prosecutor will need to bear the burden of proof to show the men’s culpability in the crimes. To fight charges of criminal activity, many individuals will select an experienced criminal defense attorney who can help them present a strong and vigorous defense against the charges.
