New York man arrested in Applebee’s lot now facing drug charges

On Behalf of | Apr 24, 2018 | Drug Charges |

New Yorkers are certainly familiar with Applebee’s restaurants. Parking lots outside such establishments are often busy places. Authorities in Putnam County say a particular Applebee’s lot recently had a lot more going on in it than restaurant patrons looking for parking spots. In fact, they arrested one man who is now facing serious drug charges.

Police claim the man was using the Applebee’s parking lot in the town of Southeast to sell heroin. An undercover narcotics officer claims he obtained information regarding the defendant during a drug investigation in the area. The deputy also says he corresponded with the 24-year old man and arranged to meet him to buy more than 100 bags of heroin.

Earlier in April, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit approached the man in an Applebee’s lot and took him into police custody, claiming he was engaged in an illegal drug transaction. He was charged on several felony counts alleging possession and sales of controlled substances. Following his arraignment, he was locked up in the county’s correctional facility in Carmel, with his bail set at a $20,000 bond or $10,000 in cash.

It can take weeks or months to full adjudicate a particular drug charges situation in New York. Unfortunately, many people who sit behind bars are not guilty; however, they wind up waiting a long time for their freedom to be restored. Some people have been able to expedite their situations by asking experienced defense attorneys to take the reins to aggressively defend them in court.
