Man in New York facing drug charges after police raid his home

On Behalf of | Dec 2, 2017 | Drug Charges |

A 21-year-old man in New York may have his work cut out for him if he hopes to avoid conviction following a recent raid at his home. Police showed up at the residence with a search warrant. After rummaging through the man’s residence, he was arrested and will now face several drug charges in court.

A particular outcome can never be presumed when it comes to defendants facing drug charges in court. There are often various defense strategies that can help preserve a person’s freedom. For instance, in this instance, one of the items police are said to have seized to help build prosecutors’ case against the man happens to have been Adderall. This happens to be a medication that is often prescribed to treat narcolepsy or Attention Deficit Disorder.

Aggressive defense in such circumstances may include providing evidence that the person charged had a valid prescription allowing him or her to be in possession of the drug. The man in this situation is also charged with several felonies due to supposed marijuana and cocaine police say they seized from his home. These items were allegedly confiscated along with at least $5,000 in cash.

The man posted a $15,000 bond to secure his release from jail. He has since been arraigned for the drug charges against him. Most New York defendants in similar situations request immediate legal representation to act on their behalves at all meetings and hearings related to their cases. Such representation often helps achieve better outcomes than those that might occur if defendants represent themselves in court.
