Former superintendent arrested after allegations of sex offenses

On Behalf of | Jun 5, 2017 | Sex Crimes |

Criminal allegations often pit the words of one person against another. In some cases, all it takes is one phone call informing authorities of an alleged crime, and a person could be under investigation, which can be a stressful and daunting process on its own. A former superintendent at a New York City school district has recently been arrested following allegations of sex offenses involving a co-worker.

According to the criminal complaint, the first incident occurred when the superintendent allegedly initiated improper contact with the woman by touching her backside. Several weeks later, she claims he approached her from behind while she was at a desk and allegedly groped her chest. He was recently arrested and accused of sexual abuse and forcible touching.

He claims that he was targeted by the allegations following a negative review of the woman’s performance at work. Although he apparently doesn’t have any prior record of disciplinary actions, his employment was terminated following the allegations alone. If convicted, he would face severe penalties that would impact his ability to obtain future employment within a similar setting.

Along with the potential of a lengthy prison term, those accused of sex offenses face consequences that can affect numerous areas of their lives. With the serious nature of similar charges, it is often advisable to seek legal counsel for assistance throughout this challenging process. When facing a similar situation, an accused individual in New York could speak with a defense attorney for advise on the best course of action with which to proceed given the circumstances.
