Driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offense that can have disastrous consequences of the future for an accused individual. Allegations alone can be challenging to overcome, potentially creating difficulties in various areas of life, personal and professional alike. A man has recently been charged with DUI after an alleged incident in a police parking lot in New York.

According to authorities, an off-duty officer claims that a man was acting suspiciously while in the parking lot of the New York State Police Academy. Police claim that after exiting his vehicle, the man proceeded to lay in the grass nearby. After conducting field sobriety tests, he was taken into custody at a nearby police station.

Police claim that the results of the tests indicated that his blood-alcohol content exceeded the legal limit for driving. He is now being accused of aggravated intoxicated driving, a conviction of which would carry significant penalties. Although the tests allegedly prove he was intoxicated at the time, no additional information was listed, such as whether he was actually operating the vehicle prior to his arrest.

Facing DUI charges alone can be extremely difficult, prompting many accused individuals to seek assistance in the process. By speaking with an attorney, a person in New York who is accused of a similar crime can obtain advice and guidance throughout this stressful period. A defense attorney can examine the charges against a client, along with the evidence and procedures used in arrest, and assist him or her in forming a strong defense to challenge the pending charges.
