One man in New York was recently arrested after police said he had sex with three minor girls. The girls were between the ages of 12 and 13, police reported. The man accused of the sex offenses reportedly said that he didn’t believe all girls of that age were the same, which is why it was okay for him to engage in sexual activities with them.
The man, said to be 39, allegedly committed the crimes between 2009 and 2010. The man was permitted to go onto a military base because he had befriended the mom of one of the female victims. The two had worked at the store Kohl’s together.
Police said the mom would occasionally allow the man to stay at her house and watch her kids while her husband was overseas actively engaging in military duty. However, she didn’t know that he was seducing her daughter so that she would engage in sexual intercourse with him. The man later engaged in intercourse with two of the girl’s friends, police reported. The first girl told a counselor about the events years later, which led to the man’s arrest.
The man, who has been charged with sex offenses in New York, faces at least 10 years behind prison bars. It is within his rights to vigorously defend his innocence in court, or he may strike a plea deal with prosecutors and possibly get a lighter charge and sentence. It is required that the government prove the man’s charges beyond a reasonable doubt in court before he can be convicted in our state.
