A man has been charged after supposed sex offenses committed in the Queens area of New York. According to the police report, the man supposedly committed sex offenses with a disabled woman. The woman has the mental capacity of a young child, and there was allegedly at least one witness who was able to confirm the police report.
According to New York law enforcement, the man followed the woman into a stall in the restroom of a local racetrack in Queens. Witness accounts say that a woman was heard screaming, and others say that they saw the man leaving the stall. Supposedly, the man was readjusting his clothes as he left the bathroom.
After the incident, the woman was found naked in the stall. Police claim that the man made a statement that could be interpreted as a confession. He was officially charged with sexual misconduct, which could carry a penalty of up to seven years if he is convicted. He is also facing other various charges, including endangering a disabled person. Besides the witness accounts, it is not clear what physical evidence is brought against him.
The sex offenses with which the man was charged are certainly deplorable and tragic. However, that does not mean that he does not have certain rights, which include the right to a defense and fair trial. He is currently being held on bail awaiting a trial or hearing. In the meantime, he has the option to work on a criminal defense for his case. A close examination of all evidence could determine what options he has and what approach to take with a defense plan.
