New York residents may be used to reading about sex offenses in the newspaper or other media outlets. Sex offenses are obviously serious charges that are treated as such in the court system. A recent story involving a fairly well-known singer has made headlines after he is now facing rape and attempted rape charges.

The singer pleaded guilty to multiple sexual assault charges. Out of the 13 charges, two were for attempted rape of a baby. While he did deny raping the 11-month-old baby, he admitted to the two counts of attempted rape. In addition to those charges, he admitted to the sexual assault and conspiracy to rape a child under 13-years-old. It was also mentioned that he filmed himself with a child and the child’s mother.

The report stated some of the details were too graphic to be published. It is unknown what type of prison sentence the man will receive. It was stated that he was receiving psychiatric help. In cases such as this, the offender can oftentimes receive the help they need to be rehabilitated while serving their sentence.

New York residents that are facing sex charges may find it in their best interest to understand the applicable state laws so they will know the possible consequences they could be facing. Although sex offenses are taken seriously in a court of law, when a person facing the charge or charges is aware of the possible outcomes they can better prepare themselves. At times, a person may need outside help when facing these charges in court.
