1 facing drug possession charges after traffic stop in New York

Countless individuals in New York and elsewhere have been pulled over for failing to wear a seat belt at some point in their lives. While for many this may only involved a warning, others have faced additional charges following the suspicion of drug possession. A 31-year-old man is facing multiple charges after he was allegedly found in possession of drugs and firearms during a recent traffic stop.

According to reports, police claim to have initiated a traffic stop after allegedly noticing a nearby driver wasn’t wearing a seat belt. Upon approaching the vehicle, an officer asserts that small bags of methamphetamine were clearly visible. After asking the driver to exit the vehicle, they claim to have noticed that he was wearing a gun on his waist, and a search of the car allegedly uncovered various amounts and types of narcotics and multiple firearms.

He was taken into custody shortly thereafter. Drug possession charges carry severe penalties, and if convicted, he would likely be facing time behind bars, along with the potential of having a permanent mark on his criminal record. With the potential gravity of the charges, he is likely focused on his defense options while awaiting court proceedings.

Those who are facing drug possession charges often find it beneficial to obtain legal counsel for the road ahead. By speaking with a defense attorney, a client could gain guidance and insight into the process. An attorney in New York can thoroughly examine the situation and advise a client on the best course of action to take moving forward.
