Day camps are often a haven for many children who are out of school for the summer. Some adults dedicate their lives to such projects and often work with children of various ages on a daily basis. When one of these adults is indicted for sex crimes involving children, others may soon find themselves facing similar accusations. A camp counselor in New York was recently arrested following allegations for multiple sex offenses.
A recent investigation into allegations of abuse at the camp in question eventually led to the indictment of a 34-year-old man who was previously accused of numerous sex crimes. Several months later, similar allegations led to the arrest of another employee of the camp. According to reports, this man allegedly took part in several inappropriate conversations with campers, and he is also accused of improperly touching some of the kids.
He is currently facing multiple charges following his arrest, including sexual abuse and child pornography. There was no indication of what evidence exists that would support these claims. During the school year, the man is apparently a substitute teacher at a school for children with developmental disabilities. If convicted, he will not only face severe penalties, but he will likely be barred from employment within a similar field in the future.
When confronted with accusations for sex offenses, a person may wish to protect his or her future by challenging the charges pending. With so much at stake, a person will often speak with an attorney in New York for guidance and assistance throughout this difficult period. A defense attorney can evaluate the charges and evidence against a client and assist him or her in pursuing the most favorable outcome possible during criminal proceedings.
