On Behalf of | Jan 31, 2017 | DWI |

A man came to the attention of New York State Police after he allegedly almost ran into the side of a Walmart on the evening of Jan. 23. Officials report the man’s blood alcohol content was .32 percent. He was arrested for DWI.

The defendant, a 23-year-old, purportedly stopped his vehicle right before hitting the side of a Walmart located at Consumer Square in Plattsburgh. Witnesses called the police after allegedly observing his erratic driving throughout the surrounding area. In a media release, it was reported that an open container of malt liquor and an open bottle of gin were discovered in the man’s vehicle by police.

In lieu of $2,500 cash bond or $5,000 bail, the defendant was held at the Clinton County Jail and scheduled to appear in Plattsburgh Town Court. He was charged with aggravated DWI and consumption of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. In addition, he faces charges of failing to stop at a stop sign, operating in violation of restrictions and refusing to take a preliminary breath test.

Anyone in New York who is facing similar DWI charges will undoubtedly want a lawyer who will fight vigorously on his or her behalf. An attorney with experience in aggressively defending DWI/DUI will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of the laws in that area and can lend their expertise and knowledge toward building a strong defense. There are a number of possible defense strategies a lawyer can utilize, and an experienced attorney will be best situated to help the client decide which approach is most likely to result in a positive outcome.
